It's a boy!!

We had an ultrasound yesterday (16 1/2 weeks) and we took the children with us.  It was a very sweet little experience.  One of Jennie's friends who is an ultrasound tech at a doctors office met us at her office yesterday afternoon and did our ultrasound.  The kids were pretty fascinated with what they got to see.  The baby was very wiggly, in fact, he looked like he kept squirming away from the ultrasound.  He also looked like he was trying to suck his thumb several times with a little open mouth and his little thumb being brought up to it.
When she got to the shot of the tush it took Ryan a minute to figure out what he was seeing but as soon as he figured it out he was ecstatic!  Izzy is less excited but I'm pretty sure that it's all related to the fact that we'll probably put the baby in Ryan's room and she's not delighted about that.  Sweet girl - she loves to be the mother.  When Ashley was tiny there were several nights where Izzy would wake up to help with her in the middle of the night.  What a treasure it is to have such helpers!
I worried that it might be a problem to have the kids there (especially Ashley) but they were fantastic.  Ashley was even enthralled although I doubt she really knew what she was seeing on that screen.

Bottom line: everything looks good and we are so excited!

It's hard to believe how blessed we are.  I won't lie - there have been many times throughout our family years that I doubted we would ever be in this place - not just being pregnant but looking at having 4 children.  It's miraculous and joyful and wonderful.

Last night as I chatted with Ryan before bed we were talking about all the angels who helped to get our children to our family:  Scott's parents and my grandparents specifically.  I have had many tender moments where the Spirit has testified to me that our dear loved ones who have passed away have the opportunity to be our angels and have been involved in our lives.  After our discussion as I walked out of his room he sweetly said, "I wonder which angels are working to get Alex here."  (Alex is the name he has decided he wants so he is calling him that already.)

We are so very blessed.

Sunny, I'm so excited for your family. I have no doubt that all your children were meant to come to you guys. I'm excited that you get to experience pregnancy because I think it is just dang cool to feel the little buggers from the inside. May everything continue to go well.

So sweet and beautiful. But you should tell Ryan if the baby is born on July 26 you have to name him Julian.

Knowing you and your personality, I thought it was going to read, "Bottom line: it's a boy." Ü
