Spring Break in Moab

We spent the first three days of Spring Break in Moab with some friends from our ward.  We visited Canyonlands the first afternoon to see some Indian Ruins.  Afterwards we ate at the Moab Diner which was yummy and Tommy occupied himself nearly the whole meal by playing with his ice water.  We nearly made it through the meal without any spills...nearly.
We stayed at a campground in a little cabin.  It had a full size bunk bed where Izzy slept on the top (to her delight) and I slept on the bottom with Thomas (I use the term slept loosely). Scott, Ryan and Ashley slept on the floor in sleeping bags.  (I intended for the girls to share a bed but Ash insisted on sleeping next to Scott and in reality she probably did better there than she would have next to Izzy. Unfortunately, Tommy didn't sleep well, but that is a separate story.
The next day we hiked to Delicate Arch (which was fun but a smidge terrifying for me as I clutched tightly to Ashley's hand).  It was beautiful but a little chilly.  After lunch the boys went to Fiery Furnace and the girls (and Tommy) went to Sand Dune Arch.  The sand was fun to play in except that it was windy so we ended up with sand in our eyes, mouths, noses, etc.  That evening we did a little shopping in Moab then had a late dutch oven dinner of barbeque chicken, corn on the cob, hand churned ice cream and cherry chocolate cake (all prepared by our friends, the Martin's).  Yum.
It was quite cold (colder than I had planned on, but fortunately, the cabin had a little heater so we were pretty snug.  Everyone slept well that night which was a relief.
After breakfast and packing up camp we headed to a steep dune just of the side of the road where we climb and ran and played (and lost treasures) until I was done and we hit the road.
It was a great trip and Scott can't wait until we can head back down.

Many of these pictures were taken by our friend Chris Lau who emailed them to us, so they are small, but we're thankful he had his camera to document our trip!

These pictures were taken at the rest stop when you're nearly out of Spanish Fork Canyon.
Tommy liked the train...kind of - he was really just pleased to be out of the car.
The mountain Izzy decided to climb at the rest stop.
 Ryan decided not to climb.

Love the pictures. It's so fun to see old neighbors. Abby is so big now. Glad you all had a good time.
