At the Park in May

We went to feed the ducks at the Nielsons' Grove park.  I was too worried I'd have children fall in the water to take pictures of the ducks but there were lots of ducks to feed and even more people feeding, so we had to compete with others to get eaters.  They still enjoyed it though and after feeding the ducks we played on the park for a while.  It was a very hot afternoon, so we didn't stay for very long but it was still a lot of fun.  Izzy and Hannah were great helpers with the little ones but when I got the camera out Izzy was frustrated that Hannah had Tommy so she avoided any pictures.

Last Day of School May 31, 2012

School's Out!  Scream and Shout!!

We were all so excited for school to get out this year.  Instead of riding the bus the last day this year they rode their bikes.  For school this year Isabelle had Miss Krystal Mortensen.  She was a fun young teacher who was interning.  She received her mission call while school was still in.  Izzy thought it was cool to have a teacher who was about to serve a mission.  She loved her teacher.

Ryan had Mrs. Barb Steele.  She was a fun veteran teacher.  He loved her rootbeer, the science fair and that he had almost all of his friends in the same class!

Ashley Helps May 2012

This is how Ashley "helps" Tommy take a picture.  He is so very patient. May 2012

Ashley's birthday bike May 2012

For Ashley's birthday she requested a bike - not just any bike but a beautiful princess bike like the one at Target.  So I went and bought it.  Scott decided that there was no reason for her to wait for her birthday - that she should be enjoying it RIGHT NOW!  So, the next morning she received an early birthday present.  Although she doesn't show it in the video, she was quite excited!
Check out the link first, that's part one.  It was too big to just insert.

Ryan and the Bee May 2012

Earlier this summer a bee swarm made it's way into the neighborhood. Our neighbor Grant Mendenhall is a beekeeper so he came to catch the swarm and start a new hive.  Ryan was fascinated.  He enjoyed watching and was very quiet and cautious.  Several weeks later he was with Scott and Grant checking the hives and he was stung in the eye.  It was big and swollen and he ended up getting cellulitis in it.  I'm not sure how enthused he is about the bees anymore, but it was fun while it lasted!

Growing Pains

Tommy turned one last week.  He has never been a grand sleeper and was especially awful the week before his birthday because he had an ear infection and we were out of town with my family in Eden.  I've been wondering when to wean him (I've not been nursing a lot but during the night he doesn't want to go back to sleep without nursing, so it's been tricky when he doesn't sleep well.)  So the first night back (his birthday) when he woke up at 11:30 wanting to nurse back to sleep I snuggled and laid him back down (with lots of tears).  I went back in after about ten minutes and loved him again and laid him down.  After a bit more crying he fell asleep.  He woke up once in the night and we went through the same sad routine.  Since that night he has slept grand and I've eased him out of his morning feed.  He has been kind of sad about that and because of that it's a little tender for me too.  This morning he wanted Scott and cried when I took him.  My heart hurts a smidge that the babe who wanted me almost all the time for a whole year (nearly) is growing up and now chooses Dad.  I know it's a good thing, I guess I'm just having growing pains too.

Playground Fun May 2012

Playground Moments!!
We have loved having our new playground.  It's been a hit with the kids in the neighborhood too!
